Doubt a Parable opens with Father Flynn delivering a sermon. During the sermon he speaks of President Kennedy, Last year when President Kennedy was assassinated, who among us did non experience the most profound disorientation. This is a tool the author uses to allow readers and auditory modality members to question their own doubts towards current events and develop Father Flynns character as an authoritative, knowledgeable, intellectual who is in the play to process lead us in the right direction.
Father Flynn is visualised as an honest authority figure in the stock of the play.
It is when we are lead to think he is deceiving us, that our faith in his humanity is questioned. This is a tool the author uses to keep the sense of hearing and readers intrigued.
