One of the nigh exciting experiences when watching a mother going into labor would be placed as painful, frightening, and scary. And yet, the outcome would be described as the opposite; at once the baby is delivered in to the world, it would be described as most happy and beautiful experience after all. Linda Paston could not describe it better in her poem Notes from the Delivery Room She presents us with metaphors and similes to create a vivid and enduring labor in a poem. The author reflexes as a mother in labor, maybe; Paston uses herself, to present an audience a poem, describing a mother in the same situation and place for a second cadence, maybe a third time. Instantly, the reader should recognize clichés such as Strapped down and I have been here before and also, this place where pain winces off the walls. This diction paints the muliebrity ready to go in labor, being held down, while aspect at the walls, family members, and nurses, where she feels hostage in the room, al iodin and in pain.
This judgment is continued throughout the poem. The woman and her actions are described with words and phrases commonly used in hospital settings. But whats interesting is; the author uses the idea of the word labor in a form of a job. The doctor is acting as the foreman, and the mother is acting as the worker. Bear down a doctor says/ to a sweating laborerâ¦/ (7-9).
During labor, every time the doctor enters the scene is because the baby is about to be born. A new life is about to begin.
