Is it healthy for the United States government to finance a galactic debt?
Introduction:
Measuring overall government debt to overall Gross Domestic Product is a meaningful dash of comparing the relative impact of debt between countries of different sizes of frugal performance.
It has been well documented that the United States has accumulated a large national debt. Currently, Americas debt is estimated to be approximately 14 trillion USD. This figure is approximately 96.5% of the fiscal year-end yearbook gross domestic product of 14.7 trillion. Currently, the sheer size of the US public debt would wait to be almost unmanageable. However, the long-term output of the US miserliness over the last 50 years has fostered growth of its debt.
As the United States continues to increase government spending to improve the fiscal health of their struggling economy, fund the US war motion in Afghanistan and implement democratic social program reforms, the United States is likely to continue its path of increasing its public debt in the coming years.
Historical Patterns of US Debt:
Over the course of American history, its successive administrations have balanced both their income and expenses relatively well. In fact, prior to 1980, the US national debt to GDP ratio was consistently less than 50%. Between the years 1940 and 1955 this ratio arrive at at 116% of debt to GDP following WWII (Refer to Figure 1).
However, since the 1980s, the US debt to GDP ratio has grown furiously.
