In 1974, Fred Turner, hired by Kroc to train employees, came up with a 75-page manual that allowed each trainee the fortune to learn the exact science of the job. Along with the manual, McDonalds created and heart-to-heart Hamburger University, which turns out 150 graduates per month. This training program is so legit; it was the only school in the industry accredited by the American Council of Education.
In the decade before the new millennium, Michael Quinlan was establish as CEO and focused his efforts on customer service, terms cutting, and international expansion. Under his leadership, McDonalds sales internationally had most tripled in his first five years in control. Things were spirit up as this front-running fast-food giant had invaded the market that had not been entered.
Although everything seemed to be on its way up internationally, domestically, their sales were lackluster. Due to the number of stores opening up monthly, weekly, even daily, the proximity of restaurants from each other decreased.
