The Industry of Farming Farming is a very large industry, hardly not necessarily always lucrative. It is the basis of everything we do, from fluxing us everyday, to providing us with fuel. Without farmers, we wouldnt have our grocery stores, or our fast nourishment places. We would be stuck fending for ourselves in the wild. Its what provides us with greener fuels to run in our cars, and perishable plastics for our shopping bags. Farming has made quite a procession over the centuries. Started out as a family or commonwealth planting and harvesting everything by hand, on less than an acre of land. To multimillion dollar bill companies having large pieces of equipment planting and harvesting hundred of thousands of acres in the matter of days. As well as the use of modern fertilizers and pesticides. Though many say that some of these advances are bad, they asseverate a higher yield, which in turn increases the in make do of the farmer. Technology has come a long way since the beginning of time. The biggest impact engine room had on horticulture, was the invention of the modern plow. It made it easier for a farmer to plant his crops, which in turn let him have bigger fields. Thus, the larger fields meant more crops, which meant more money (Bellis). The tractor raised a farmers production substantially. Not only did it help him do it quicker, but it freed up land that was used to grow oats and fodder needed to feed the horses. The tractor only required fuel and daily maintenance, and used nada when it didnt work; whereas, horses required feeding regardless, and you had to worry about insects and pests that may possibly effect their health.
